International Cooperation
Our Nordic Counterparts
The Office of the State Conciliation and Mediation Officer has a long history of cooperation with its counterparts in the other Nordic countries. Regular meetings are arranged and seminars held every other year to share know-how and expertise.
International Labour Organization
Iceland has been a member of the ILO since 1945
Iceland’s system of state-provided conciliation and mediation services is similar to the one adopted by, for example, the other Nordic countries, Belgium, New Zealand, India and Indonesia. In some other countries, such as Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States, mediation agencies are resourced by the state, but operate independently of it. The Office of the State Conciliation and Mediation Officer closely follows ILO‘s information on the latest developments in the field of conciliation and mediation.
